So let me start with assuming you don’t know that I challenged Gary Varnerchuk of Wine Library TV to a motivational mouth off? If you didn’t know you can watch the video above. As always let me state that I love GV I consider him a friend. Now that being said man to man he rubbed me the wrong way in a conversation. Now in case you didn’t know Gary is VERY competitive so I openly challenged him. He excepted (see video his head will pop up..he is the one in a skully)
I wanted to set a date. GV told me sometime in the Fall as is very busy. I know he puts a lot on his plate so it wasn’t surprising to me that he would say that. What did surprise me is that he couldn’t give me a date. I’ve seen Gary’s schedule it is well managed by his super awesome assistant Matt. So when he asked me I said “You pick the day I’ll make it work.” No day was given.
Then I was really surprised to read this tweet!
Now let me ask you a serious question…Keynote speech or never seen before motivational battle? Which sounds more interesting? I mean I’m sure the other gigs will pay more then I’m offering at ($0). Sure the other gigs may offer more exposure as I’m still a no body in the eyes of the world. But I know it wouldn’t be more interesting or challenging. GV can get up in front of a packed room at SXSW. I’ve seen it. Can GV go toe to toe against me? NO CLUE.
Oh and for those of you reading who think I want to throw an event & make money off it, wrong. I asked GV if there was any money made off of the event we would give it all to a charity. Being the awesome guy Gary is he agreed. With that thought in mind I want to invite Gary to the #BlameDrewsCancer 24 hour Blame-A-Thon Event on 9-9-09 in Philly to battle me live online. There are a few reasons why this would be great:
1. It would bring added publicity and viewership to a great cause!
2. The voting system can be based around the hash tag #BlameDrewsCancer which helps raise money
3. Viewers will get motivational speeches that might help them in their day to day life.
4. It’s a 24 hour event so Gary can come battle me late in the day so I will be too weak to win.
5. Gary won’t have to read that he is scared of me anymore!
All around I’m thinking a win, win for all parties involved. I was just wondering if YOU (Gary) can squeeze this in to your schedule. I mean if you’re busy I understand. But it is a 24 hour event.. The hustle never stops right? No time for sleep when your hustling.. right? You can even pick the time of day or night.
